Welcome to the France Gallery.

All of the images in this section were taken on a short holiday to the South of France in May/June 2005.

I stayed at the small coastal town of St. Aygulf, about half way between Cannes and St. Tropez.

The photo to the right shows the Etang de Villepey, an area of around 350 hectares of reedbed, brackish pools and scrub just inland from the Mediterranean.

It is a managed nature reserve with a hide and trail all the way around. Its a 20 minute walk from the centre of St. Aygulf. The speck in the centre-left is a Squacco Heron!

In addition to the gallery photos below, other species such as Black Kite, Great Reed Warbler, Sardinian Warbler, Golden Oriole, Serin, Corn Bunting, Quail were all present.
